The writer needs to view the following film on Netflix: “Loving” (2016) based on the true story of Mildred and Richard Loving, an interracial couple who were the plaintiffs in the 1967 Supreme Court case challenging Virginia’s state law prohibiting interracial marriage. Upon completion of the film, answer the following questions in Number Format: 1.) Provide a brief summary of the movie. 2.) What were the legal/justice theme(s) of the movie? How do those themes relate to law and justice as discussed in Chapter 7? (please mention any of the following terms when answering: supreme court/state statutes/civil law/constitution) You must also cite Chapter 7. 3.) What was your reaction to the film? How did it challenge or inspire your ideas about law and justice?
***My professor emphasized in her instructions that the writing should be your original work and should reflect your own reaction. Do not summarize other people’s reviews or analysis of the film found on google or any other website/source. The failure to follow this rule will result in a failing grade for the semester and refer the matter to the Department Chair and the Dean’s Office. My professor will use TurnItIn to look for plagiarism in the paper***

Isbn-13: 978-0231174770.

In the Talking Terror podcast, Professor John Morrison has interviewed over 50 terrorism and counterterrorism researchers from around the world. For this assignment, you will select one of the episodes (must be a person he interviewed, not a general terrorism topic episode).
Your job is to listen to the full episode and write a short (1-2 page, single-spaced) reaction memo to it.
This memo should: 1) draw from what the person said in their interview; 2) tie back to things that we have discussed in class; and 3) include additional questions you have.
This is the book for the class if you need it: Hoffman, B. (2017). Inside Terrorism. Columbia University Press. ISBN-13: 978-0231174770. We are currently on chapters 6 & 7.

Why or why not?

1. Can you think of any examples of films you have seen that include depictions of Arab or Arab American people? What were those images like?
2. Aladdin is an animated film aimed primarily at children. Do you agree that we should take the images and representations of a film like this seriously? Why or why not? Can you think of other children’s films that include stereotypical representations of groups of people?
3. This documentary is from 2006, as I was unable to find a more recent one that addressed images of Arab peoples. In what ways and how much do you think things have changed from the time this film was made to the present day?
4. Why do you think reporters blamed Middle Eastern terrorists for the Oklahoma City bombing?
5. Dr. Shaheen encourages us not to remain silent when confronted by prejudicial stereotypes. Have you ever spoken up in a situation such as that? What was that experience like? What challenges do people who refuse to remain silent face? How can those challenges be met?
6. Write a quotation from the film that was meaningful to you and explain why you think it’s important.
7. What commonalities do you see between what this film documents happens with images of Arabs and the previous documentaries you saw about images of African Americans and Asian Americans?
